THE LADRÓN EXPERIENCE

Ladrón believes that complex and enjoyable wines begin in the vineyard

We focus on selecting vineyards and varietals that highlight the environment and dedication of growers to produce the best expression of each place and time from California and Washington. We invite you on this journey with us to discover how that is captured by our wines…in our urban winery and tasting room.

VINEYARD SELECTION

VINEYARDS

In order to create amazing wines, the focus is on sourcing from the best sustainable and organic vineyards in the selected regions. The California vineyards are located in the Central Coast and include AVA’s such as Santa Barbara County, Santa Maria, Santa Rita Hills and Paso Robles AVA’s. We source traditional Rhone varietals such as – Syrah, Grenache and Mourvèdre, but have also added Petite Sirah, Zinfandel, Tempranillo, Graciano and Cabernet Sauvignon, which allows us to create concentrated red wine blends with incredible depth and layers. We are also excited to introduce regions within Washington state including Royal Slope, Red Mountain and Snipes Mountain, where we source Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah.

CRACK CREEK

Willow Creek District – Paso Robles

If it wasn’t for Anthony Yount (The Royal NoneSuch) introducing Orion to Kent (Owner of Crack Creek) vineyard, we might have never connected. Thanks Anthony! A unique site, being only 3 acres and a stone’s throw away from G2 Vineyard. Nicknamed Crack Creek because of the former behavioral habits that used to rummage the property. We currently source Zinfandel and Grenache from the estate, but they have recently planted Mourvèdre and Syrah for us as well.

BIEN NACIDO

Santa Maria Valley

The Bien Nacido Vineyards is a coastal cool climate location just 12 miles from the Pacific Ocean in the Santa Maria AVA. In 2021 Food and Wine Magazine rated this location the #1 vineyard in the US, and we understand why they were given that designation. It’s unique climate, rocky soil and impact that it has in producing incredible depth of aromas and taste in the fruit. The effects of the cool morning fog but warm afternoons help contribute to some of the most incredible tasting wines produced on the Central Coast.

G2 VINEYARD

Willow Creek District – Paso Robles

Bill Gibbs, owner of G2 Vineyard, had a dream – he wanted to produce some of the BEST fruit possible and he achieved that goal. G2 sits not too far from Booker, just a little further south off 46 West. Bill strives for greatness out at G2 and he has handpicked his roster of winemakers that have the ability to work with the fruit he preciously grows. We are honored to be amongst the few that source from G2 Vineyard. With only a small planting of the original head trained Zinfandel left, we are fortunate to receive the entire block which becomes part of our ESCAPE ARTIST blend.

NOLAN VINEYARDS

Alisos Canyon – Los Alamos

Nestled in the Alisos Canyon AVA in Santa Barbara County, the vineyard is certified sustainable with unique terroir featuring interesting rocky and mineral rich soils and cold nights. The Nolan Vineyard provides our Syrah, Clairette Blanche, Grenache and Mourvedre varietals. The vineyard produces concentrated red varietals and mineral forward white wines.

DEFIANCE VINEYARDS

Paso Robles

Defiance is a boutique vineyard nestled east of Paso Robles in Creston and is known for growing premium Petite Sirah (KNUCKLES) and Bordeaux varietals. Its terroir offers a diurnal temperature swing, providing optimal growing conditions, coveted by other regions. Dedicated to sustainability, Defiance Vineyard is all farmed and harvested by hand with the utmost attention to detail. The vineyard rests on an east facing hillside well above the Creston Valley. The elevation spans up to 1500 feet with most rows on a 35 degree slope and row orientation facing North – South.
